Leadership Series

How are you becoming a better leader?

Becoming a better leader requires an abnormal amount of effort. Consistent, relentless effort is what it takes to become an outstanding leader.  This week in my #CJJblog leadership series, we continue to talk about how to become a better leader and how we can improve every day.  Below are some more tips I have compiled throughout my years as a leader.  Enjoy.

  • Effective communication. How well do you communicate your thoughts to others? Are you able to effectively portray your thoughts and opinions in a concise, direct manner? Always remember to be a role model for others, especially your team.
  • Lead by example. Walk your talk and talk your walk. Always remember that you are on stage no matter what you are doing, who you are with, or where you are. Show your team you care with your actions, not your words. Do you lead by your words or your actions?
  • Leaving a profit. Live your life with the mindset of everything I touch turns to gold. Always leave (the area, your job, a relationship, etc.) in better condition than when you arrived. Your mindset is key in this aspect as you consistently develop into a better leader. What is the profit that you are leaving?
  • Be a servant leader. Develop leaders for after you are gone. Setting up others for success should be a large part of your leading strategy. Leaving your footprint for others can leave a lasting legacy desired by many.

For those of you who missed it, my man, Jason “J-Mac” McElwain ran in the Boston Marathon and finished with a time a touch over three hours. We are very proud of him.  If you haven’t yet, make sure you congratulate him on this wonderful accomplishment.  Have a great week, everyone!
