Father Time is undefeated
As we get older, it becomes more and more difficult to take care of ourselves. Are you getting better as you age? Or has Father Time already started to take its toll on you? For me, I like to think I am improving myself and my body compared to when I was young. In the #CJJblog this week, I give you three main areas that you should be focusing on as you age and what I do for myself in each category. Enjoy.
- Physical
- Eating: Are you a healthy eater? Are you eating nutritious foods? I don’t eat anything after 6:30pm and try to have 12-14 hours of no food before eating breakfast the next day.
- Drinking. I drink water. Lots of it. No alcohol or soda for me.
- Sleep. Are you getting enough sleep? I get at least seven hours every night and enjoy being an early bird.
- Exercise. I get my cardio in through tennis, walks, biking, and core/leg workouts daily. How do you exercise?
- Stretch. How often do you stretch your muscles? I do a 20-minute program every day.
- Mental
- Meditation. 20-30 minutes each day. Focus on your breathing, imagery, and affirmations.
- Mind. Do you feed your mind? For 60 minutes per day I’m either reading or listening to an audiobook or podcast.
- Passion writing. What are you passionate about? Are you documenting your thoughts? Have 20-minute writing sessions where you just jot down your thoughts and ideas.
- Journal. I have an idea journal that I write in at least three times per day. It gets filled up quickly.
- Scorecard. Do you grade your days? I rate my days in six different categories (Ex: relationships, mental health, etc.) before I go to bed.
- Spiritual/relationships
- Pray. I pray for at least ten minutes each day.
- Gratitude. Do you have a Gratitude Journal? Write down two or three things you are grateful for each day and watch yourself start to feel better.
- Videos. I share videos with others. I record myself saying congrats or Happy Birthday and send them off to my friends and family. It’s something that nobody does. Try it!
- Giver. Be a giver first. Help others by introducing them to others in your network.
