Book Review: Leadership Two Words at a Time

Do you have any good books you recommend?

Recently, I read the book Leadership Two Words at a Time by: Bill Treasurer and absolutely loved it.  This is a great book for young leaders or those looking to for simple tactics on how to improve their leadership skills.  In the #CJJblog this week, I give you the three main categories outlined in the book, the author’s main talking points, as well as some of my thoughts on the book.  Please reach out if you have a good book, you think I should read as well!  Enjoy.

  • Leading yourself.  Do you understand yourself and who you are?  For me, it’s important I identify and act upon my core mission and values.  What are your most important values?  Do you live them every day?  You also must gain control of your own growth.  How do you grow your mind and conquer self-mastery?  You should also practice humility and keep your ego in check.
  • Leading people.  To start, you must intentionally build trust with a plan.  Create a safe environment to share ideas and promote being courageous.  Develop your team by nurturing talent and sharing their strengths with others.  Promote inclusion and make it clear that everyone will be treated fairly and equally.
  • Leading work.  Do you love what you do?  Is it your passion?  In order to see results, you must gain clarity on your goals and how you are going to accomplish them.  Lead up as well, where you are supporting your bosses, but also providing a buffer between your team and any uncertainty that may be going on within your organization.
