Are you helping your team build trust?

Your team must learn to depend on one another both inside and outside the lines. As their leader, it is your job to get them have faith in each other in every situation. Here are a few tips I have for all leaders looking to help build trust within their team:

• Starts with you. Before you begin to help build trust within your team, you must focus on yourself and get your team to trust their leader. What are you all about? What are your values? How well do you live your life? These are the questions that you must answer before you begin to focus on your team.

• Do what you say, say what you do. Your team will look to you for guidance from both your words and your actions. If you make a promise, keep it. Be punctual. Be the role model they deserve in their life. Are you being a good role model to your team even when the lights aren’t shining on you?

• Realize your wrong-doing. Here is one of the most valuable sentences you can say when building trust: “How can I make it right?” This shows your concern for their well-being and also acknowledges your realization of your wrong-doing. It’s a very powerful sentence when used correctly.

Life Tip #28: When people think of a person of integrity, they should think of you
