Are you resilient?

What is resilience?  How do you become more resilient?  Are you someone who fights through adversity?  Or, do you give up when things get difficult?  Persevering through the tough times in pursuit of your goals only makes the finish line that much sweeter.  In the #CJJblog this week, I give you some tips and tricks on how you can strengthen your resilience muscle.  Enjoy.

  • Clarity.  What are your goals?  What is important to you?  Why is it important to you?  Are you crystal clear on your morals and values?
  • Writing.  Are your goals written out somewhere for you to see everyday?  How specific are you getting with your written thoughts?  I highly encourage you to start a Goals Journal to hold yourself accountable and reinforce the clarity of your intentions.
  • Planning.  Creating processes means creating disciplines.  Start small and develop your processes from scratch.
  • Habits.  Starting with small habits will lead to bigger habits, which will lead to accomplishing your goals.  For example, lay out your workout clothes the night before you want to wake up early to workout.
  • Role models.  Who are your role models?  Who has already accomplished what you aim to achieve?  Study their journey and research what they had to overcome along the way.
  • Passion.  What are you passionate about?  Passion will make you less likely to experience future burnout.  Passion will make it easier to get through the tough times that will inevitably come.
  • Review.  Assess your progress periodically.  What should you change?  What is working well?  I suggest taking these assessment breaks and checking the scoreboard every 90 days.
  • Optimism.  Past failures do not equal future failures.  Think positively and use your experience to make changes and improve yourself.
  • Learning.  Resilience doesn’t come from failures.  Resilience comes from learning from our failures.
  • Questions.  Always ask yourself these two important questions: 1) What can I learn from this? And 2) How can I become stronger because of this?
