Global Leadership Summit 2024 – Day Two

Have you attended a multi-day Leadership Conference?

Last week, I shared my takeaways from day one of the 2024 Global Leadership Summit I attended earlier this month at Roberts Wesleyan University here in Rochester, NY.  In the #CJJblog this week, I give you the same from day two of this wonderful event.  Were you in attendance?  Reach out and let me know what you thought!

  • Amy Edmundson – Author & Professor, Harvard Business School.  Keys to failure (part of life).  Types of failure: 1) Basic Failure – Human error and one single (simple) mistake, 2) Complex Failure – Multiple failures across multiple levels, 3) Intelligence Failure – Necessary to grow and better learn as you grow.  What changes do you need to make to make it work?  How do I know I’m right?  Excellence is catching and correcting your errors.
  • Michael Jr. – Comedic Thought Leader.  Be internally curious and you won’t be furious.  Your present conflict is something from your past and will help your future.
  • Arthur Brooks – Happiness Expert & Harvard Professor.  True leaders lift people up and bring them together.  Faith, family, and friends are the keys to happiness.  Meaningful work is having success and serving others.  Love is key, can you lift up your enemies?   To achieve more love: 1) Stand up to the man, 2) Bring light where there is darkness, and 3) Don’t go alone, ask for courage.
  • Will Guidara – Famous NYC Restaurateur & Podcast host.  Have a relentless pursuit of excellence and develop a love for people and a trusting team.  Hold a short, daily team huddle.  Remember, raindrops make oceans.  1) Focus on being present, slow down, and listen to customers, 2) Don’t take yourself too seriously, and 3) Make people feel seen – One size fits one.
  • Marcus Buckingham – Global researcher & Entrepreneur.  Love is the key to building a great culture.  Love is when you are predictable with your behaviors.  Love is super important in business.  Love is a precursor to contribution.  Leaders are experience makers for their team.  Love lives in intelligence and dies with neglect, so please believe in love.
