Do you love what you do?

After watching the Men’s College Basketball National Championship game a couple weeks ago, I was reminded how important love is on your road to success. It was crystal clear both Head Coaches (Dan Hurley – UConn and Dusty May – Michigan) have different coaching styles, but both love what they do. In the #CJJblog this week, I outline the importance of love and how it can make you a better leader.  Enjoy.

  • Team. Do you love your team members? Are you building relationships with each of them individually? To prove you love what you do, get to know your team first, then your job second.
  • Job. Do you love your occupation? Are you someone who has tremendous passion for your job? You always do more and do above and beyond when you love what you do.
  • Personal growth. Are you in love with personal progress? How are you growing your mind and abilities to do your job at a higher level? Never settle for the current results.
  • Team growth. Are you setting the example for your team members to follow? Having love for team growth means you are putting in the effort and consistently raising the standard.
  • One more. Are you in love with the one more mindset? Your willingness to overachieve will set you apart as a leader.
  • Words. Are you a great communicator? The love of words will take you to new heights in your career and relationships.
  • Listening. Do you genuinely love listening? Or do you only do it when you are forced to? If you are the Chief Question Asker (CQA) and ask curious questions, you will gain the respect of others much faster.
  • Competitive greatness. Are you in love with rising to the challenge? Are you a true competitor? Develop a slogan for your team (ex: We will not be outworked) to hold onto in crunch time.
