There’s a new king in Men’s tennis

Has Alcaraz officially surpassed the big three?

Carlos Alcaraz won his 4th Grand Slam title last weekend as he dominated Novak Djokovic in the Men’s Wimbledon Final, winning in straight sets.  While he’s only 21 years old, he has been near the top of the rankings for a few years now.  With his impressive victory on Sunday, I am now declaring him the new “King of Men’s Tennis.”  In the #CJJblog this week, I tell you why.  What do you think?

  • Drive.  Alcaraz has tremendous drive to be great.  Him having four majors at such a young age is very impressive and believe it or not, already more than Andy Murray had for his entire career (three).  Will Alcaraz get to 20?  I think YES.
  • Humility.  Are you confident, but also humble?  Carlos Alcaraz is.  He has swagger, but also appreciates the greatness of Djokovic and the history of tennis.  He is alway learning from the greats.
  • Coaching.  Alcaraz’s coach is former world No. 1 player, Juan Carlos Ferrero.  They have a very unique relationship, but it works.  They understand each other and Juan Carlos is the right guy for him.
  • Skills.  Watching Carlos Alcaraz play tennis is like poetry in motion.  He has a tremendously well-rounded game that is very rare for his age.  He has incredible athleticism, but also a very sounds approach to the game.
  • Mindset.  He embraces the never give up mindset and he exemplifies it every match.  He plays like it’s his last time stepping on the court and plays every point to the best of his ability.
  • Control.  He only worries about things he can control – effort and attitude.  Nothing else matters to him.  Alcaraz is great because he doesn’t worry about unnecessary things.
  • Pressure.  When his best is required, Carlos Alcaraz shines the brightest.  He digs deep and performs his best when the pressure is the highest.

Did You Know?  Coach will be delivering his Dreams Really Do Come True keynote and also doing a Leadership breakout session with the North Carolina Association on Monday.

Life Tip #1:  Make each day your masterpiece (like Carlos Alcaraz)
