Tell your parents you love them
Recently, I lost my father. While most people called him “Gene,” my dad, James Eugene Johnson passed away at the age of 90 after living an incredible life. Married for 66 years and full of love and positivity, I wanted to write the #CJJblog this week as a tribute to this wonderful man. RIP dad. I love you.
- Love. how does a child spell love? T-I-M-E. My dad was always there. He showed up time after time to support us and the family.
- Positivity. Without a doubt, he was the most positive, happy person I have ever met. His outlook was glass half-full at all times. Anytime you asked him how he was doing, his response would always be a jovial “Doing well!”
- Attitude. My dad never gave up on people. He believed to his core that everyone was good and they should stick with whatever they were working toward.
- Role model. Many of you know that I love the phrase You are always on stage and my dad was the epitome of that. He never – ever – took his wedding ring off and he was always leading by example.
- Mother. He loved my mother deeply and always cared for her. The greatest gift a parent can give their children is to love their spouse and I am so thankful he gave that to me every day.
- Giver. My father was the ultimate selfless giver. He always gave and expected nothing in return.
- Relentless. He was incredibly relentless in every aspect of his life. He always found a way to figure it out.

Life Tip #27: Go the extra mile consistently (like my father). There are no traffic jams on the extra mile.
