Do you have any ongoing daily streaks in your life?
Consistency is something we all strive for, but can be tough to achieve. I was recently on my weekly call with my accountability partner and he was telling me about his streak of doing 100 push-ups per day, which he has been successfully doing for six months straight. After hearing about his mindset and the benefits this daily streak has brought him, I started thinking about my daily streaks as well. In the #CJJblog this week, I give you some of my daily streaks and challenge you to start one today. How long have some of your daily streaks been going on?
- Exercise. I love to exercise, as most of you are aware. My daily streak of exercising for at least 30 minutes/day (to my estimation) goes back about six years! How often do you exercise?
- Prayer. I am a person of faith and have prayed every day for the last year at least.
- Meditate. Sitting quietly by myself clears my head and grounds me. My streak with meditation for at least 20 minutes/day is more than a year as well.
- Self-reassurance. How do you start your day? For me, I have a daily streak of a good old fashioned self-high five and telling myself “have a great day.”
- Personal video. In this digital age of social media and texting, I make an effort to be different. For the last two years, I have sent out at least one video of myself to someone with a personalized message (ex: Happy Birthday). How do you differentiate yourself?
- Reading. For the last three years, I have read for at least 10 minutes per day. How often do you read?
- Feeding my mind. Another one of my three-plus year daily streaks is feeding my mind for at least 30 minutes per day via audiobooks, videos, and podcasts. How do you grow your mind?
- Social media. I am very active on social media – Come say hey! For the last two years, I have posted my Daily Success Thought and the Daily Dose of Leadership each day on my channels.
- Content. I am always churning out additional content as well. Weekly blog (12+ years), monthly newsletter (10+ years), and weekly podcast (3+ years) is what I focus on. Are you growing a following via content creation?
- Fasting. My newest daily streak is fasting. Started on January 1st, I make sure I go at least 12 hours between meals from night to the next morning.
- BONUS: If you start with consistency, life accumulates.
