{"id":2586,"date":"2023-07-28T16:42:23","date_gmt":"2023-07-28T20:42:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coachjimjohnson.com\/?p=2586"},"modified":"2023-07-28T16:42:42","modified_gmt":"2023-07-28T20:42:42","slug":"national-speakers-association-influence-2023-orlando-fl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coachjimjohnson.com\/national-speakers-association-influence-2023-orlando-fl\/","title":{"rendered":"National Speakers Association &#8211; Influence 2023 (Orlando, FL)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Have you attended a conference this year?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conferences are a classic case of <em>you get out what you put in<\/em>.&nbsp; If you go through the motions, don\u2019t engage with anyone, don\u2019t ask questions, and basically just show up and nothing more\u2026&nbsp; You will not have a good experience.&nbsp; If you do as I did at the National Speakers Association <a href=\"https:\/\/nsaspeaker.org\/attend\/influence-2023\/\">Influence 2023<\/a> event, then you will gain tremendous value.&nbsp; I give you some of my takeaways in the #CJJblog this week.&nbsp; Enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><em>Delatorro McNeal.<\/em>&nbsp; To make more of an impact, shift your story, attitude, and leadership.&nbsp; It\u2019s always easier to be better than your best self, because that is in the past.&nbsp; Elevate your uniqueness, because when there are two of something, one of them is unnecessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Marc Randolph.<\/em>&nbsp; Make your pitch about three things: 1) People, 2) People, and 3) People.&nbsp; It\u2019s about the jockey, not the horse.&nbsp; Do you possess the heart to see others be successful?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Jon Gordon.<\/em>&nbsp; When you appreciate, you elevate.&nbsp; Love the audience mindset.&nbsp; If you invest in the roots of the tree, you get the best fruit.&nbsp; Struggles help you find your greatest strengths.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Justin Jones.<\/em>&nbsp; Have an after-care plan for your clients.&nbsp; Not failing means you are not trying hard enough.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>National Speakers Association Hall of Famers:<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Connie Podesta<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mark Scharenbroich<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willie Jolley<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Opening.<\/em>&nbsp; In your intro, use a teaser.&nbsp; Don\u2019t start with pleasantries, or the typical <em>how is everybody doing? <\/em>&nbsp;Tell a story off the bat, or use the word \u201cimagine\u2026\u201d then give a statistic or a story.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Closing.&nbsp; <\/em>1) Never end with a Q&amp;A (do it near the end, but not at the very end), 2) Ask powerful, thought-provoking questions, 3) Loop back and connect to a previous thought or story you told, and 4) End with a challenge or call-to-action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Victor Antonio.<\/em>&nbsp; Three E\u2019s &#8211; Educate, Empathy, and Empower.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Did You Know?<\/em>&nbsp; You can check out one of my favorite podcast episodes <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/discover-the-key-to-captivating-your-audience-secrets\/id1449637169?i=1000621555669\">HERE<\/a>.&nbsp; It\u2019s \u201cBeyond Your Why\u201d with Dr. Gary Sanchez, and this episode is specifically talking about how to captivate your audience.&nbsp; Definitely worth a listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Life Tip #18:<\/em>&nbsp; Take a public speaking course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you attended a conference this year?
