{"id":2663,"date":"2023-12-07T13:49:06","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T18:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coachjimjohnson.com\/?p=2663"},"modified":"2023-12-07T13:49:57","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T18:49:57","slug":"how-do-you-break-into-the-top-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coachjimjohnson.com\/how-do-you-break-into-the-top-5\/","title":{"rendered":"How do you break into the top 5%?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Are you a top performer in your field?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Top performers all have different journeys to get there, but we can certainly learn something from each path.&nbsp; Look for success because it leaves clues.&nbsp; Are you searching in the right places for success?&nbsp; In the #CJJblog this week, I give you some tips on how you can become a top 5% performer in your field.&nbsp; As a successful basketball coach for many years, I always wanted to get better.&nbsp; Here\u2019s how you can, too.&nbsp; Enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><em>Be curious.<\/em>&nbsp; Are you asking the right questions?&nbsp; You can learn something from everyone, if you are in the right (curious) mindset and asking the right questions.&nbsp; Being a learn-it-all is better than being a know-it-all.&nbsp; Which one are you?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Work ethic.<\/em>&nbsp; Do you have a daily schedule?&nbsp; Are you holding yourself accountable?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Team.<\/em>&nbsp; Do you have a great team to help elevate you?&nbsp; Who are you surrounding yourself with?&nbsp; Complement yourself with people who possess talent and also share your same mission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Student.<\/em>&nbsp; Are you student of your profession?&nbsp; If you have to drive to learn and grow, what are you doing about it (seminars, conferences, books, etc.)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Self-care.<\/em>&nbsp; How are you taking care of yourself?&nbsp; Do you get enough sleep and eat healthy?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Communication.<\/em>&nbsp; How clear are your expectations of others?&nbsp; Are you open to feedback regarding your performance?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Learning.<\/em>&nbsp; How do you learn from your actions?&nbsp; If you fail, what changes are you making?&nbsp; If you succeed, what systems are you developing to ensure the same future success?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Did You Know?<\/em>&nbsp; Coach Jim Johnson will be a future contributor to a <a href=\"https:\/\/kylewilson.com\/\">Kyle Wilson<\/a> book.&nbsp; Keep an eye out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Life Tip #17:<\/em>&nbsp; Consistently attend seminars and conferences to increase your knowledge in your field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you a top performer in your field?
