You treasure what you measure

What life metrics do you track?

In life, you can find out what means the most to you simply by observing what you measure.  “What you measure, you treasure” is a very simple, but powerful statement you can use to discover your most important values.  In the #CJJblog this week, I give you seven things I measure and how you can implement some of these strategies into your daily life as well.  Enjoy.

  • Goals.  Do you have a Goals Journal?  Mine is filled with daily goals framed as positive affirmations.  I write them out each day.  For example, I am happily exercising for 40 minutes today.
  • Balance.  Do you categorize your goals?  Make sure you are focusing on the four main areas of life: Physical, mental, spiritual, and social.
  • Accountability.  Get yourself an accountability partner and speak with them at least on a weekly basis.  Go over your top three priorities and hold each other accountable to work toward your goals.
  • Daily MVPs.  Want to give each day a purpose?  Write down and speak out loud your top three Most Valuable Priorities each morning.
  • Daily scoreboard.  At the end of each day, how do you assess how productive you were?  I rate myself in different categories (health, relationships, professionally, etc.).
  • Quarterly review.  Zoom out every few months and take a look at what you are working toward.  What do you need to start, stop, and continue doing?
  • Growth.  How are you growing your mind each day?  What strategies do you implement?  Reading?  Podcasts?  I encourage you to force yourself to grow for at least 20 min/day.
