There’s only one score that really matters

What really matters in life?

I recently read the book The Score That Matters by: Ryan Hawk and Brook Cupps and I really enjoyed it.  If you are someone who would like to learn more about improving your life (and your enjoyment), you will love this book as well.  In the #CJJblog this week, I give you my top ten takeaways, but for those who have also read it, feel free to let me know what you liked as well.  Enjoy.

  • Clarity in your life is important.  Write your own eulogy in 24 words or less.
  • Focus on the process over the results.
  • Handle hard better, life is not going to get easier.
  • Make a list of characteristics of a good teammate and a bad teammate, then share it with your other team members.
  • Words to live by: 1) So what, now what, and 2) Be where your feet are.
  • Share your current energy levels with your teammates: Red (down), yellow (neutral), or green (it’s go time).
  • Start a thankful journal and write in it three times per day.
  • Have a Thankful Thursday where you text three people (one older, one younger, and one the same age) in your contacts and tell them you are thankful that they are in your life.
  • Create T-shirts with a motto (ex: “F-it button” = Forget it) to increase comradery.
  • Ask yourself these two questions before bed every night: 1) Am I wiser than when I woke up? And 2) What did I do today to push my edges?

Did You Know?  Coach Jim Johnson will be having the authors of this book (Ryan Hawk & Brook Cupps) on his podcast in early July.
