Are you in control of your life?
Recently, I had the opportunity to speak with some middle school students about controlling what you can control in your life. It’s a powerful topic because we so often get frustrated with things outside of our control. While some dwell on these occurrences, I want you to focus on the things that you can affect directly. The #CJJblog this week gives you some tips on how to do this, but please feel free to reach out if you have any secrets that work for you. Enjoy.
- Attitude. You can control what happens between your ears better than anyone. You can control your attitude by: 1) Staying positive in the face of adversity, 2) Sharing an attitude of gratitude every day, 3) Starting an attitude of gratitude journal, and 4) Having consistent attitude check-ins with yourself.
- Work ethic. How hard do you work on a daily basis? Do you give the same effort in every situation? Sometimes, it’s important to remember that the most important thing is not the outcome, but your effort.
- Respect. Do you respect others at all times? Using please and thank you goes a long way and always remember to treat others better than you expect to be treated. Also remember to give without keeping score.
- Teammate. Are you a great teammate? Make sure you always have the We > Me mindset. Ask your teammates What can I do today to help make us a better team?
- Growth mindset. Are you getting one percent better each day? Small improvements added up, make a big difference. You should develop an Intentional Growth Plan for yourself and execute.
