COVID kicked my butt

Have you tested positive for COVID-19?

Two weeks ago, I tested positive for COVID-19 and it was four days of hell.  As many of you know by now, I take great pride in my physical health.  I exercise, drink a ton of water, sleep well, eat well, double-vaccinated, and despite all this…  I was laid up in my bed for the better part of a week.  COVID-19 is no joke.  In the #CJJblog this week, I am not getting political or giving you opinions on anything.  I wanted to simply give you my experience with this virus, as I previously underestimated its severity and what it can do to you.  Enjoy.

  • Questions.  Is COVID really that bad?  Even if I get it, my symptoms won’t be worse than a minor cold, right?  I’m fully vaccinated, so I must be immune to contracting it.  These were all thoughts going through my head, prior to my recent experience with COVID-19.
  • Masking. I have been very consistent wearing a mask in public and anytime I was around others.  Be aware of your surroundings and always wear masks where required.
  • Take it serious.  Before testing positive and experiencing it firsthand, I must admit I was a bit skeptical.  Given that I am in good physical condition and take care of myself, I felt I had somewhat of an immunity to the symptoms.  False.  The symptoms started out as a normal cold, then as my fever worsened, exhaustion set in, and I was down for the count.
  • My experience.  This is just my experience and I wish you nothing but good health.  The virus is very real and I hope you don’t take it lightly.  Be safe out there and around others!
