How can we be kind?

Are you a kind person?

How often do you perform acts of kindness?  Are you on a path toward happiness?  I recently read the book “Clear!: Living the Life your didn’t Dream of” by: Dr. Herman Williams and started thinking more about kindness.  In the #CJJblog this week, I give you the author’s Four Levels of Kindness and I challenge you to implement them into your daily life.  Enjoy.

  • Use basic gestures:

1) Smile and make eye contact with others

2) Say hello to a stranger

3) Inquire about loved ones’ family

4) Compliment an acquaintance

  • Take simple actions:

1) Open the door for a stranger

2) Send a nice note to a friend or colleague

3) Use a soft, gentle touch on someone’s shoulder (when appropriate) 4) Have a funny, positive conversation with a stranger.

  • Take involved actions:

1) Clean up someone else’s mess

2) Visit someone in the hospital

3) Pay for someone else’s drink or meal without their knowledge

4) Tell your immediate family (spouse, kids, etc.) that you love them

5) Contact your parents at least once per week

  • Put yourself at risk:

1) Get CPR certified (to be ready for action when needed)

2) Donate an organ
