Your words matter

How often do you think about your words?

Words matter and life is all about perspective.  Are you someone who is consistently speaking positively?  Or are there situations where you come off as a bitter person?  In the #CJJblog this week, I give you some “Yes” thoughts you should be having everyday, and some “No” thoughts you should be avoiding.  Enjoy.

  • YES thoughts
    • Start each day by saying “I am responsible.”
    • Leave my ego at the door.  EGO = Edging God Out.
    • My team members are my #1 asset.
    • Being a good example to my team members is essential.
    • Attitudes are contagious, is mine as a leader worth catching?
    • Don’t be a know-it-all, be a learn-it-all.
    • Effective leaders are the CRO (Chief Reminding Officers) of the team mission and values.
    • Focus on helping my team members become better leaders.
    • Lead myself better before leading others.
    • Be a student of leadership.
    • Empower and show I care about my team members.
    • How can I best support you?
    • How would you rate me as a leader on a scale of 1-10?  How can I become a 10?
    • How can we improve the team culture?
    • What are your most important goals?
    • What is your ideal role you would like to have on the team?
    • How can I sync up team goals with individual goals of my team members?
  • NO thoughts
    • Find the best answer, not the right answer.
    • “Not my fault.”  Always take responsibility.
    • Never stop investing in your people.
    • No plan to stay in touch with your people.
    • Lack of clarity on what type of people fit into your team.
    • Profit is more important than people.
    • Criticize more than you praise.
