How would you define your brand in one word?

What is your brand?

Have you ever thought about defining your brand in one word?  What would that one word be?  Would everyone agree on this word, or is it unclear?  The #CJJblog this week takes a look at defining your own brand, some strategies, and why having clear brand recognition is important.  Enjoy.

  • My brand
    • Perseverance.  How would you define yourself to others?  How are you helping others help themselves?  For those of you familiar with the J-Mac story, know how he tried out (unsuccessfully) for my varsity team three years in a row before becoming our team manager his Senior year.  You can’t illustrate perseverance more clearly than that.
    • Success.  I won my first NY State Section V title in that magical year of 2006, which was my 19th year as a basketball coach.  I went on to win a handful more, a couple Coach of the Year awards, and elected into the Section V Basketball Hall of Fame.
    • Mindset.  I embrace the never give up mindset.  I won six titles in my last 11 years as a coach because we always found a way to win.
  • Strategies
    • Learn.  Whether you win or lose, you should always learn from the result.  If you fail, figure out what needs to change.  If you win, identify what went right and replicate it.
    • Others.  Learn from others, but without comparison.  Learning from others will:1) Help you with the mental side of the competition, 2) Develop systems, and 3) Help you attract the right people/partners to be a consistent winner.

Life Tip #45:  You never get a second chance to make a first impression.  Do it right the first time.
