A budding star: Why I believe in Josh Allen

What are your thoughts on the Bills quarterback?

When he was drafted 7th overall in the 2018 NFL draft, Josh Allen came with a lot of question marks.  Would he be accurate enough to play in the NFL?  Can he be a leader?  Will he stay healthy?  After taking some bumps in his first couple seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Allen has emerged into not only a star quarterback, but an MVP candidate for the 2020 season.  In the #CJJblog this week, I give you my reasons why I believe he has answered those questions and is ready for stardom.  Enjoy.

  • Growth mindset. Josh Allen has this rare type of mindset where he is always looking to improve his skills.  He asks “how can I get better?” and that pairs perfectly with the physical tools he has as well.
  • Great competitor. He gives 100% effort (almost to a fault) on every play.  He is willing to do whatever it takes to win.  Do you possess this type of competitive spirit?
  • Great leader. I believe Allen is a great leader for three main reasons: 1) Leads by example, 2) Treats his teammates with respect, and 3) LOVES the spotlight.
  • Confidence with humility. He believes in himself and is confident, but does it with a level of humility that is very telling.  Cockiness can get you in tough situations, but his confidence helps make him successful on the field.
  • He has fantastic drive and determination to get better.  He has gone from good to great, now looking to officially announce himself as one of the elite players in the NFL.  I believe he is hungry enough to make it happen.
  • No excuses. Even after a loss, he takes responsibility for his actions.  You don’t see him pointing fingers at others.  How often do you make excuses?
  • Good communicator. This is how he is able to build solid relationships with his teammates.  They trust him because they know he has their back.  How would others describe your communication skills?
