Are you forgetting about your goals?
Don’t look now, but the calendar says August. I hope you are having a great summer, but I also wanted to remind everyone to not forget about your goals. Are they currently taking a backseat to the family beach trips? How often are you setting your personal goals to the side in favor of a vacation day or guilty pleasure? In the #CJJblog this week, I give you some tips on how you can stay focused on your most important goals during the hot summer months and not let them fizzle. Enjoy.
- Daily bookends. How do you start your day? How do you end your day? A couple ways to start your day with purpose are: 1) Morning walk, 2) Meditate, 3) Pray, 4) Read, and 5) Stretch. A few ways you can end your day successfully are: 1) Gratitude journal, 2) Rate your daily progress in important life categories (ex: health, wealth, etc.)
- Daily agenda. At night, plan out your following day and identify your top 3 MVPs (Most Valuable Priorities). Block off time for certain meetings and activities. To be efficient with your time, you can also stack similar tasks together (ex: make all your phone calls back-to-back.
- Goal cards. Create goal cards that you can read each day and recite out loud. Also make sure to track your progress in your goal journal.
- Non-negotiables. What are your daily non-negotiables? It’s important to remember you don’t have to be perfect. A good rule to have for yourself is not to miss two days in a row (exercising, meditating, praying, etc.). Build good habits with yourself.
- Communication. Are you a consistent communicator? Or are there close people in your life that you haven’t spoken to in years? A good practice for me is to send out daily videos of congratulations or recognition to others. Nobody does this. Be different.
- Questions.
- What is the most important thing I need to do today?
- What are the most important metrics I should be measuring?
